William Omberg of Douglas S. Freeman High School is the Capitol Regional Winner of a $2,500 scholarship awarded through the VBA Bank Day Scholarship Program. Sponsored by the Virginia Bankers Association (VBA), together with the VBA Education Foundation and the VBA Emerging Bank Leaders, VBA Bank Day took place on March 21, with more than 400 students hosted at banks across the Commonwealth. After shadowing bankers and learning about banking, financial services, and the role banks play in their communities, the students wrote essay about their experiences. Thirteen scholarships (six regional, six honorable mention and one statewide) were awarded based on the merit of the essays.
