Michelle Press, of Henrico, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester at The University of Hartford.

Jarrett Bender, of Henrico, and Keir Hinton, of Varina, were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester at the University of Delaware. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.33 or above.

William Wheat Goodfellow, of Glen Allen, was named to the dean’s academic honor roll for the fall 2015 semester at Baylor University. To be eligible for the honor roll, students must earn a minimum 3.7 grade point average.

Caroline Smith, of Glen Allen, and Sarah Johnson, of Henrico, were named to the president’s list for the fall 2015 semester at Kent State. To be eligible for the president’s list, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average.

Arif Kamaleldin Ibrahim and Heather Nicole Jenkins, of Glen Allen, were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester at Iowa State University. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade point average.

Charles Thoma, of Henrico, was awarded Gold Stars by The Citadel for earning a grade point ratio of 3.7 or higher during the 2015 fall semester. Students that achieve Gold Star recognition are also placed on The Citadel's dean's List.

Chelsea Fuller, of Glen Allen, graduated in December from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. She earned a bachelor of science degree in Aerospace Engineering.

Stephanie Peramas, of Glen Allen, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester at the University of Rhode Island. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.3 grade point average.

William Lee McElroy, of Henrico, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.625 grade point average. McElroy is the son of Anne & John L. McElroy III.

The Central Virginia Celtic Festival and Highland Games will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 28 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Richmond Raceway Complex. Competitions include fiddle, harp, highland dance, piping, drumming and Gaelic song, as well as heavy athletics and hurling. The Fighting Jamesons, Albannach and others will perform. The Vendor Village will be selling jewelry, traditional Celtic food, pottery and kilts. Whisky tastings (additional fee) include instruction and an interactive session on the proper way to nose and taste single malt Scotch whisky. Children are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and trick or treat with the various clans in attendance.
