Obituary – Robert “R.B.” Brackett Postans, Jr.

Robert "R.B." Brackett Postans, Jr., 85 of Glen Allen, Va., passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Born in Ashland, Va., October 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Robert Brackett and Olive Layne Postans. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Evelyn Pound Postans; and two children, Robert Jeffrey Postans (Nancy), Susan Postans Alexander (Doug); six grandchildren, Spencer and Tyler Postans, Elizabeth Alexander Preskitt (Nick) and Matthew Alexander, Jonathan Redling (Maggie) and Maegan Coor; one great-grandchild, Paxton; his brother, George L. Postans (Alice) of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; and a nephew and niece. R.B. graduated from Henry Clay High School and attended Randolph-Macon College. He served his country during the Korean War era in the U.S. Navy. He worked at Buhrman & Sons and later retired from the Virginia Department of Taxation as an Interstate Audit Supervisor in 1996. He was a coach in the Tuckahoe Little League and also worked as an Institutional Representative with the Boy Scouts. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 361 and the Westhampton Lodge #302. R.B. will be missed by all of those whose lives he touched. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. The family is thankful for the compassion and care of their church family and the health care staff and friends at Lakewood Manor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 9801 Fort King Rd., Henrico, Va. 23229 or to the charity of your choice.
