Obituary – Ramon E. Warren, Jr.

Ramon Eldridge Warren Jr., 97, died on August 4, 2014. He was a native of Richmond, born in Church Hill on September 23, 1916, the first of six children of Ramon Eldridge and Ruth Pyles Warren. He was a resident of The Hermitage at Cedarfield and a lifelong member of Leigh Street Baptist Church. Mr. Warren was retired from the City of Richmond Department of Finance as a certified public accountant.

He was much loved and known for his quick wit, sensitive nature, artistic interests, and good looks. In 2009, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Braudrick Warren. He is survived by his brothers, William Warren and Robert Warren; his children, Ramon Warren III and Linda Duke; five grandchildren, Kelly Norton, Travis Warren, Garrett Warren, Elizabeth Duke, and Kathryn Duke-Aladai; three great-grandchildren, McKenna Norton, Tristan Warren, and Sawyer Warren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his dedicated nurse, Gayle Maurice.

Following a private interment at Oakwood Cemetery, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 4pm in the Health Care Great Room at The Hermitage at Cedarfield, conducted by the Rev. James Colvin of Leigh Street Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Samaritan Fund, 2300 Cedarfield Pkwy, Henrico, VA 23233. The Henrico County Police Division will provide rabies vaccines for dogs and cats from 9 a.m. to noon at the Western Government Center, 4301 E. Parham Road. Pet owners must register and pay at the cashier’s office in the Administration Building before seeing a veterinarian on the first level of the adjacent parking deck. Each vaccine costs $10 and must be paid in cash. A rabies tag and certificate of inoculation are included. Pets from all localities are welcome. Cats must be in carriers.
