Obituary – James Douglas Shaffer

James Douglas "JD" "Mountain Man" Shaffer, 81, of Glen Allen, passed away on July 8, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Jean Greiner Shaffer; his children, Debbie Wright (Jim), Jay Shaffer, Jr.(Pam) and Reggie Shaffer (Evelyn); grandchildren, Ashley and Steven Wright, and Nicole Shaffer; brother Harold (Joyce); with a host of loving family members and friends. J.D. retired from DuPont as an insulator. He was a past president of ARWI, volunteered at Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad, and served in the Blues Division of the Army National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved golf, fishing and hunting and was a long time member of Little River Hunt Club. A Celebration of J.D.'s life will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at The Westwood Club (6200 West Club Lane) at 4 p.m. Reception to follow. Friends are welcome to share memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of James D. Shaffer to: The Greater Richmond Alzheimer's Association – Research for a Cure, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, VA 23060.

Innsbrook After Hours continues its 32nd year with 80s tribute band Rubix Kube. The band is able to crank out pop, rock, new wave, dance and hair metal hits from the decade of decadence and perform them just like the originals – yet with their own gnarly twist.
