Obituary – James Douglas Shaffer

James Douglas "JD" "Mountain Man" Shaffer, 81, of Glen Allen, passed away on July 8, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Jean Greiner Shaffer; his children, Debbie Wright (Jim), Jay Shaffer, Jr.(Pam) and Reggie Shaffer (Evelyn); grandchildren, Ashley and Steven Wright, and Nicole Shaffer; brother Harold (Joyce); with a host of loving family members and friends. J.D. retired from DuPont as an insulator. He was a past president of ARWI, volunteered at Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad, and served in the Blues Division of the Army National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved golf, fishing and hunting and was a long time member of Little River Hunt Club. A Celebration of J.D.'s life will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at The Westwood Club (6200 West Club Lane) at 4 p.m. Reception to follow. Friends are welcome to share memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of James D.
