Obituary – Donovan S. “Don” Crider

Donovan S. "Don" Crider, 85, of Henrico, born April 12, 1931, passed away on March 13, 2017. He was born in Pittsylvania County, son of the late William David and Olive Huey Crider. He is survived by his wife, Jean Crider; sons, Glenn A. Crider (Diana), Todd David Crider (Kari); and daughter, Sharon Girten (Tyler); grandchildren, Ben Crider, Skyler Girten, Emma and Brody Crider; brother, Troy Quentin Crider (Claire); and sister, Jean Crider Brown (Richard). He was preceded in death by his brothers, Huey Leroy Crider, Roscoe "Rat" Crider; and sister, Portia Crider Barnes. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and several special friends, including John and Trish Goza and all his "family" at TRC Designs, where he was affectionately known as "Pop." Don served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Wright and retired from Dupont after 35 years service. He worked part time after his retirement at Ukrop's and Martins as well as at TRC Designs with his son, Glenn. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Crider Family Cemetery, 1240 Luster Rd., Gretna, Virginia 24557.
