VSP issues warning about automated traffic ticket email scam

Virginia State Police officials are warning Virginians about an email scam that tells people they are receiving an “automated traffic ticket” from the agency. State Police do not use or issue digital or automated traffic tickets or summonses, however. Anyone receiving such an email should delete it and not click on any links provided in the email, police said.

Police find body in Sandston hotel

Henrico Police found a 32-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound at the Legacy Inn in the 5200 block of Airport Square Lane in Sandston May 9 at 1:10 a.m. The man was identified Friday as Thomas Randall of Roanoke.

Detectives are following up on leads as they continue their investigation. Police have not released information about suspects.

Arrest made in connection to Devers Road fire

Henrico County Fire Marshals have arrested and charged Andre Poulin with setting fire to an occupied dwelling.

Poulin, 22, is accused of setting fire to the second floor bedroom at 1321 Devers Road on April 12. No motive was released.

Suspects sought in breaking-and-entering incidents

Henrico Police are seeking suspects and a vehicle believed to be connected with several commercial burglaries in Eastern Henrico this month and last month.

In late March and early April, suspects gained entry or attempted to gain entry into several businesses during the overnight or early morning hours. The businesses include restaurants in the 5200 block of Laburnum Avenue, 300 block of East Williamsburg Road as well as a restaurant and a dental office in the 3800 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike. Cash and food were taken in several of the incidents.

Robbery suspects sought

Henrico Police are seeking two men who approached a woman at a Bank of America ATM and demanded money from her during an early morning robbery March 23.

At about 12:05 a.m. that day, the woman was depositing money to the ATM in the 8000 block of Villa Park Drive in northern Henrico when the two suspects approached her, demanding money. One displayed a handgun. The victim threw her deposit and drove off, unharmed. The armed suspect picked up the cash, and both suspects fled on foot.

Police charge two in string of auto break-ins

Henrico police have arrested and charged two men with multiple counts or larceny and vandalism to vehicles in connection with larcenies from automobiles in western Henrico in recent weeks.

Police arreted 32-year-old Thomas Brian Newby of the 5200 block of Whetstone Road in Richmond and charged him with eight counts of larceny and seven counts of vandalism to a vehicle. Twenty-three year-old Cody Sebastian Haun of the 11000 block of Merganser Terrace in Chesterfield was arrested and charged with five counts of larceny and five counts of vandalism to a vehicle.

Suspects sought in auto larcenies

Henrico Police continue to seek suspects who attempted to use stolen credit cards at a Henrico Wal-Mart and a Martin's store on Forest Hill Avenue. The credit cards were reported stolen during an earlier larceny from an automobile in Henrico – one of 40 reports of larcenies from autos in western Henrico since Feb. 12, according to police.

The stolen cards were used by two suspects at the Martin's on Forest Hill Avenue on March 20 at about 7 a.m. Both suspects are described as white males of average build in their 20s or 30s.

Suspect who tried to use stolen credit cards sought

Incident may be connected to string of larcenies from autos in western Henrico

Henrico Police are seeking a suspect who attempted to use stolen credit cards at a Henrico Wal-Mart Feb. 18. The credit cards were reported stolen during a larceny from an automobile in Henrico earlier – one of 27 reports of larcenies from autos in western Henrico south of Patterson Avenue since Feb. 12, according to police.

The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his late 20s or early 30s, and was seen in surveillance video from the Wal-Mart wearing a Miami Dolphins hat, an oversized jacket, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Robbery suspect sought

Henrico Police are seeking a suspect who robbed the 7-Eleven at 3600 Mechcanicsville Turnpike at approximately 3:30 a.m., March 6. The male suspect entered the store armed with a knife, forced the clerks to open the register drawers and fled after removing an undisclosed amount of money.

He is described as a black male, approximately 25 to 35 years old, between 6 feet tall and 6 foot 2 and between 180 to 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black coat, black pants, black mask and black Nike tennis shoes.
