Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer has announced the sale of 11201 Patterson Ave. in Henrico County. The Manakin Companies, LLC purchased the 1,718-square-foot freestanding office building from POB, LLC for $295,000. Isaac DeRegibus of Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer handled the sale negotiations on behalf of the seller.

HFCU earns Enterprise Car Sales award


Henrico FCU recently earned the Enterprise Car Sales Bronze Award (Virginia Group) for used car sales volume during fiscal year 2016. The credit union originated more than $250,000 in loans specific to Enterprise Used Car Sales.

Citizen’s Kruszewski wins 6 VPC awards


Citizen Managing Editor Patty Kruszewski won six awards in the Virginia Professional Communicators (VPC) 2017 communications contest, including a first-place entry that will advance to the National Federation of Press Women competition. Awards were announced at the VPC spring conference held in Richmond in April.

Kruszewski collected first-place honors in the personal columns category for two Family Forum columns covering the topics of the relationship between character and parenting, and power-outage hardships for electronically-dependent families.

Henrico engineering firm merging with 2 other local firms


Representatives from Koontz-Bryant, Geo-Solutions and Willmark Engineering announced this week that the three companies will be merging to form Koontz Bryant Johnson Williams.

Henrico-based Koontz-Bryant is a civil engineering, surveying, landscape architecture and environmental services firm that has been in operation for more than 26 years. Chester-based Geo-Solutions’ expertise lies in geotechnical engineering, environmental services and drainfield design, and Ashland-based Willmark Engineering provides civil engineering services to the commercial and industrial market sectors.

More than 5,550 participants took part June 11 in the Anthem Corporate Run, an event designed to celebrate the importance of workplace wellness initiatives, team building programs and business-to-business networking opportunities.

The Virginia Society of CPAs recently recognized the following members with its 2017 Life Member Award: Ronald C. Britt and Richard E. Dolan, of Glen Allen; and Mason L. Hart, of Henrico. The award recognizes those who have been members of the VSCPA for at least 40 continuous years. Including this year’s inductees, only 580 members have received the coveted Life Member Award in the VSCPA’s 108-year history. Recipients of the Life Member Award will have their annual VSCPA membership dues waived and will continue to receive all benefits extended to VSCPA members, including all services and publications. They are also honored with a special lapel pin and certificate of recognition.

Regency Square Mall getting facelift, new anchor


Regency Square Mall has started to undergo a $30 million renovation to refresh its look and bring in new retailers.

Joint owners Thalhimer and Rebkee received approval from the Henrico County Planning Commission to begin the project, which started in April. The mall was constructed in 1974.

Henrico recognizes ‘legacy’ businesses

Vittorio Capocelli’s brother, Mario, began suffering from kidney failure in 1965. Mario needed a kidney transplant, but one of the best transplant doctors at the time, Dr. David Hume, was located in Richmond – approximately 4,500 miles from their home in Rome, Italy.

Vittorio and his family decided to pack up and travel to Richmond so that Mario could be treated by Hume, who had helped perform the very first kidney transplant in 1954 at Peter Ben Brigham Hospital.

The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) has announced its officers and Board of Directors for the 2017–18 fiscal year. At-large Board members include: Anne B. Hagen, CPA, of Masonic Home of Virginia in Henrico. The officers and directors were sworn in at the VSCPA’s annual business meeting on May 16 in Williamsburg.
