The Express Employment Professionals, Richmond (North) office held an event on July 21, 2017 to raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer care at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. The total of almost $800 that was raised included online donations from their clients, and lemonade sales at their office as part of the Anthem LemonAid / Children’s Miracle Network charity event. The Richmond (North) Express Employment Professionals franchise began operation in 1996 and serves Hanover, Henrico, New Kent and King William counties in a variety of fields in administrative, finance, engineering and commercial temporary help and direct hire employees. The office is located at 827 E. Parham Rd. in Henrico and is currently accepting applications.

Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer’s Capital Markets Group has represented the seller in the sale of Windsor VI, a class A fulfillment center totaling 51,800 square feet, located at 8575 Magellan Parkway within the Windsor Business Park in Henrico County. Windsor VI, a single tenant net leased industrial property built in 2004, is fully occupied by Williamson Drug, a CVS Health Corporation subsidiary, and is one of six buildings within the 6- acre Windsor Business Park. The tenant has a long-term lease at Windsor VI and has been in the building since 2005. The purchaser, Rich Uncles of Los Angeles, Calif., acquired the asset on July 20, 2017 for $7,400,000 ($143 psf) from an affiliate of Fernau LeBlanc Investment Partners of Bethesda, Md. The sale was completed by Eric Robison, senior vice president of Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer’s Capital Markets Group in Thalhimer’s Richmond office.

Richmond Raceway has promoted Megan Hazzard to Director of Events. Hazzard, who has served at the track for eight years, will take on leadership in managing the overall business of the Richmond Raceway Complex. This includes the sales and operations of the Complex as well as coordinating with various other departments to develop the Complex’s business. In addition to overseeing the Richmond Raceway Complex, Hazzard will continue to provide support on NASCAR race weekends.

Richmond Raceway also promoted two members of the current staff to new roles. Suzanne Longest has been promoted to Operations Business Manager. She will be responsible for running the day-to-day and race event operations, including budget and vendor management. She will also assist the Complex team on capital projects, training, and expanding the concert business. Tyler Timblin has moved from the Ticketing & Guest Services unit to the Corporate Sales department. Timblin, who started his time at Richmond as a Ticket Sales Associate, has been promoted to a Corporate Sales Executive. His primary responsibility is selling premium seating opportunities to local and regional businesses for NASCAR race weekends.

Richmond Raceway also welcomed three new members to the staff in recent months – Ray Smith as Senior Manager of Marketing and Fan Development, Darryle Bajomo as Manager of Consumer Marketing and Vaughan Crittenden as Manager of Communications.

Henrico Schools to host College and Career Night Nov. 1


Students of all ages are invited to investigate options for life after high school at Henrico County Public Schools’ 2017 College and Career Night. The annual countywide event offers a chance to talk with representatives of more than 100 universities, colleges and professional programs, as well as about 50 representatives of career options such as businesses and branches of the military.

College and Career Night will take place Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Henrico High School, 302 Azalea Ave. > Read more.

Henrico-based nonprofit Commonwealth Autism recently received the Standards for Excellence Institute’s Seal of Excellence for successfully completing its accreditation program. Commonwealth Autism voluntarily opened itself to analysis by a peer review team during the last 18 months that examined the organization’s compliance with the “Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector.” These standards cover areas such as: mission, strategy and evaluation; leadership – board, staff and volunteers; legal compliance and ethics; finance and operations; resource development; and public awareness, engagement and advocacy. Commonwealth Autism was one of six organizations in the Richmond region to be recognized and the first in the region to achieve full accreditation. In addition to this accreditation, Commonwealth Autism is recognized as an Accredited Charity with the Richmond Better Business Bureau and holds accreditation from the Code of Ethics for Behavioral Organizations (COEBO). > Read more.

Purify Infrared Sauna recently opened its second Henrico location at GreenGate Shopping Center in Short Pump.

Henrico Master Gardener training program accepting applications through Oct. 27


The Henrico County Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is accepting applications for its next volunteer Master Gardener training program, which provides instruction in all aspects of horticulture.

Applications for the 2018 training program will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 27. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Jan. 16 through March 22. > Read more.
