RIR Salutes Hamlin

Local Driver Seeks First Sprint Cup Title Sunday
Richmond International Raceway isn't hiding its rooting interest in Sunday's final NASCAR race of the year: the track is displaying graphics encouraging Chesterfield native Denny Hamlin, as he tries to lock up his first Sprint Cup championship Sunday at the Ford 400 in Homestead, Fla.

RIR’s 153-foot video scoring tower reads “Go Denny!” on its massive video boards and “Good Luck Denny!” on the leader board.

Hamlin has a 15-point lead over four-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson and is 46 points ahead of Kevin Harvick.

The Ford 400 NASCAR airs on ESPN at 1 p.m. Sunday.
