NASCAR crew competes with fans in bagging challenge

Members of the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil crew and local Virginia media personalities paired up at the Kroger store in Short Pump on Thursday to compete in a ‘Tailgating Cook off,’ where the No. 22 crew members barbecued burgers for customers to sample for the chance of being selected the ‘People’s Choice’ winning team.

Crew members and shoppers competed in a ‘Grocery Bagging Challenge’ to see who could correctly bag groceries in the fastest time. Fans who filled their bags faster than the crew won Shell Gift Cards, Kroger Gift Cards and other No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil car themed prizes. The event was held in celebration of the exclusive relationship between Shell and Kroger.

Driver Kurt Busch, will feature the Kroger logo on the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Dodge during the April 30 race at Richmond International Raceway.

The Shell-Kroger partnership provides Kroger shoppers in several U.S. cities the opportunity to earn savings on fuels by redeeming their Kroger Fuel Points at Kroger fuel centers and participating Shell stations. Customers in participating markets have the opportunity to instantly redeem up to 1,000 fuel points per visit to save up to $1 per gallon at Kroger fuel centers and participating Shell stations. This offer is valid up to 35 gallons of fuel per purchase. Customers earn one fuel point for every dollar spent at participating Kroger stores when they use their loyalty cards.

The Central Virginia Celtic Festival and Highland Games will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 28 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Richmond Raceway Complex. Competitions include fiddle, harp, highland dance, piping, drumming and Gaelic song, as well as heavy athletics and hurling. The Fighting Jamesons, Albannach and others will perform. The Vendor Village will be selling jewelry, traditional Celtic food, pottery and kilts.
