Henrico boys’ basketball team plays for state title Friday
Citizen Staff Reports 03/07/13
The Henrico High School boys’ basketball team will face John Marshall in the state championship game Friday night at VCU's Siegel Center, with tip-off expected at 9 p.m. The Warriors, champions of the Central District and Central Region, already have defeated John Marshall twice this year, winning in an in-season tournament and also in the Central Region championship game last week.
It will be the first time in Virginia High School League history that two Central Region teams have met for the state championship.
“This has been a magical season for our program,” said the Warriors’ coach, Ronald Harmon. “Our team has been unselfish and coachable the entire season. Those traits combined with our team’s toughness have made for many memorable moments.”
The Warriors beat W.T. Woodson 75-65 in a tight game earlier this week to move on to the VHSL Group AAA championship game for the first time in school history.
