Local Olympian visits Volleyball Club

Olympic gold medalist Reid Priddy visited the Richmond Volleyball Club Sept. 10 for a meet-and-greet session with admiring members, who waited in long lines to have their autographs and pictures taken with the star player on the men’s national volleyball team. Priddy and the men’s team won gold in China in 2008 but failed to medal in this year’s London Olympics.

Among the fans who flocked to RVC to visit with Priddy were members of the Glen Allen High School girls volleyball team, above (left to right – Emma Gathel, Kirsten Kennedy, Emily Riggin, Erin Hedrick, Shea Yeager, Courtney Wright, Amanda Garrett) and Ken and Christine Lu, with five-week-old Sloane.

The Virginia Master Naturalists’ Riverine Chapter will hold an Open House from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at North Park Library. Find out if becoming a Master Naturalist is for you – talk with active Master Naturalists, see examples of volunteer projects and have questions answered personally. Master Naturalists are volunteer educators, citizen scientists and environmental stewards helping Virginia conserve and manage natural resources and public lands. Applications are due by Dec. 1.
