Tickets for RIR’s Sept. 7-8 NASCAR weekend on sale now
|
Citizen Staff Reports 05/31/12
The weekend kicks off Friday, Sept. 7, when the NASCAR Nationwide Series returns to RIR for the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 race “under the lights.” Friday’s ticket includes practice and Gatorade Pole Qualifying for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as practice and WRIC-TV8 Pole Qualifying for the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Friday’s advance tickets start at $30, with children 12 and younger admitted free with a ticketed adult in general admission sections. The Saturday, Sept. 8 Federated Auto Parts 400 marks “One Last Race to Make The Chase” and is the final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event before the chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The top 10 in driver point standings will earn a berth in the championship field and two “wild card” drivers will also earn a spot. The “wild card” positions go to the two drivers with the most wins who are ranked 11-20 in the point standings. “I think the Wild Card system has created a tremendous amount of buzz in the air, and the people who aren’t in the top 10, or haven’t won races, know they need to make something happen,” said Kevin Harvick, winner of last year’s September race at Richmond International Raceway. “As we all saw last year, this race has the potential to be one of the most intense, tempered and exciting races of the season,” said RIR President Dennis Bickmeier. “Last season there were 14 drivers mathematically eligible for three remaining spots in The Chase. Not only are the finishing position points important in the Federated Auto Parts 400, but the bonus points for wins are crucial, as evidenced by the championship finish last year between Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards.” For tickets and information, click here or call 866-455-7223. |

Ironfish delights with a variety of tasty catches

I was overjoyed to head back for another meal at Ironfish by Pescados, considered the Best New Restaurant in 2011 by both the Richmond Times Dispatch and Richmond Magazine. I agree whole-heartedly with their ratings. Since I first visited the restaurant for my birthday in January, I was waiting for the perfect special occasion to return. I couldn’t wait another year, obviously.
Run by the same restaurateurs as Pescados Latin Caribbean Seafood in Midlothian and Eat in Oregon Hill, Ironfish offers the same unique dishes and top-level customer service. > Read more.
