Tickets for RIR fall races on sale today
Citizen Staff Reports 06/03/11
Tickets for the fall races at Richmond International Raceway went on sale today. RIR will host the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Friday, Sept. 9, followed Sept. 10 by the “One Last Race to Make The Chase” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
The top 10 Sprint Cup Series drivers in driver point standings will earn a berth in the championship field and two “wild card” drivers will also earn a spot. The “wild card” positions go to the two drivers with the most wins who are ranked 11-20 in the point standings, which means there could be an abundance of drivers battling it out for the win “under the lights” at Richmond International Raceway.
“This very well could be one of the most intense, tempered and exciting races ever at Richmond International Raceway,” said track president Doug Fritz. “Being One Last Race to Make The Chase always carries a great deal of emotion with drivers trying to race their way into the top positions. But now it’s even crazier with multiple drivers who will be battling to earn the final two ‘wild card’ spots by having the most wins.”
Tickets for the Sprint Cup race start at $45 in advance and can be purchased online at http://www.rir.com or by calling 866-455-7223.
Friday’s ticket includes practice and Fas Mart Pole Qualifying for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as practice and WRIC-TV8 Pole Qualifying for the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Friday’s advance tickets start at $30, with children 12 and younger admitted free with a ticketed adult in general admission sections.
