HCPS-TV will stream the game live through its website, http://www.henrico.k12.va.us Varin.a enters the game 8-1, while Highland Springs is 7-2. NOVA of Virginia, a Henrico-based swim program, recently won the Virginia Swimming Long Course age group championship for a 13th consecutive time.
NOVA sent 110 swimmers to the Christiansburg, Va., competition, where they broke six Virginia records and seven meet records. > Read more.

A number of Henrico County high school football coaches and athletic officials attended the Washington Redskins High School Coaches Clinic July 31 at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center in Richmond. The clinic, presented by Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Centers, was hosted by the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, Redskins Executive Vice President/General Manager Bruce Allen, Head Coach Mike Shanahan and former Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington. > Read more.

Nine-year-old Henrico resident Alexandra Perkins won her third consecutive 10-under girls tennis tournament on the Richmond Junior Tournament Circuit earlier this month at the Steward School, defeating Kayli Shenk 6-5 (9-7 tiebreaker) in the final.
The RJTC is a summer-long series of 13 one-day tennis tournaments for young players who are new to competitive tennis. Sponsored by the
Association of Richmond Tennis Professionals with support from the Richmond Tennis Association, the events feature play on 36-foot, 60-foot and standard 78-foot tennis courts using red, orange, and green tennis balls (depending upon age division). > Read more.

Saint Gertrude High School will offer several athletic camps for girls this summer at its Outdoor Athletic Center in Henrico, including softball (June 17-21 and August 5-8) and field hockey (June 17-21; Weed Wackers Field Hockey for third- through fifth-graders Aug. 5-8). The SGHS Outdoor Athletic Center is located at 500 Scott Road off North Parham Road. Sports camps to be held on the school campus on Stuart Avenue in Richmond's Museum District include basketball (July 15-19) and volleyball (July 29-Aug. 2). > Read more.

The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond (DSAGR) will hold its fifth annual Step UP for Down Syndrome 5K and Family Festival Saturday, Oct. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Short Pump Town Center. Do Muppets sleep? It’s hard to say.
They don’t really eat (or breathe, as far as anyone can tell). And only occasionally do they have visible, functioning legs.
