Tickets to NASCAR's September race weekend at Richmond International Raceway will go on sale to the general public Friday, May 23.
The weekend will feature the Federated Auto Parts 400 on Saturday, Sept. 6, which sets the field for the Sprint Cup Series' Chase for the Sprint Cup, locking in the drivers who areeligible for the season title. > Read more.

Henrico-based Arena Racing USA, in partnership with USO Hampton Roads Central Virginia (USOHRCV), earlier this year launched "Tickets for Troops," a program to connect corporate and individual ticket sponsors with area military channels. USOHRCV is not the only recipient of the “Tickets for Troops” program; Arena Racing USA donates sponsored tickets to organizations such as: Fisher House Richmond, Fort Lee MWR (Morale, Welfare, Recreation), McGuire Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Air Force Training Squadron, and we continue to build relationships with other military-focused organizations and bases. > Read more.

Didn't get a ticket to the sold-out Varina-Highland Springs football game Friday night? You can still watch the game online, thanks to Henrico County Public Schools. HCPS-TV will stream the game live through its website, http://www.henrico.k12.va.us Varin.a enters the game 8-1, while Highland Springs is 7-2. NOVA of Virginia, a Henrico-based swim program, recently won the Virginia Swimming Long Course age group championship for a 13th consecutive time.
NOVA sent 110 swimmers to the Christiansburg, Va., competition, where they broke six Virginia records and seven meet records. > Read more.

A number of Henrico County high school football coaches and athletic officials attended the Washington Redskins High School Coaches Clinic July 31 at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center in Richmond. The clinic, presented by Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Centers, was hosted by the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, Redskins Executive Vice President/General Manager Bruce Allen, Head Coach Mike Shanahan and former Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington. > Read more.

On Tuesday, Dec. 13, the Salvation Army of Central Virginia will begin the distribution of toys, clothing, coats, bikes, books and other items to those in need this holiday season. The Salvation Army’s Christmas Center is located at Virginia Center Commons in the former Dillard’s, 10101 Brook Rd. Valentine exhibit explores county's history in photographs
Photographs that span more than a century and help tell the stories of everyday life in Henrico County during that span are on display as part of a new exhibit at the Valentine Richmond History Center downtown.
"Into Focus: Henrico County through the Camera" – a collaborative exhibit with Henrico County featuring about 50 photographs of the county from as far back as 1899 – opened Oct. 13 and will continue through March. Photos in the exhibit document each of the county's five magisterial districts and are arranged by district, curator Meg Hughes said. The exhibit is designed to celebrate Henrico's 400th anniversary this year. > Read more.
