![]() Hampden-Sydney College recently inducted senior Richard Michael Pantele into Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society for college men and women. The Lambda Circle of DOK selects students based on their influence as campus leaders to better campus life and to encourage high standards in all activities. A government major, Pantele is a graduate of Mills E. Godwin High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Pantele, of Richmond. *** Charlotte Gomer, a Denison University student from Henrico, is currently studying with the Arcadia College of Global Studies Program in Italy for the fall 2012 semester. Through this off-campus study program, students continue to receive full credit toward a Denison degree while pursuing diverse research or academic opportunities. Gomer is a member of the class of 2014. *** Charles Newton Whitaker, Jr., of Richmond, recently enrolled at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C. He is majoring in general engineering. *** The 2012 Homecoming King and Queen Court at Eastern Kentucky University included J.R. Tucker High School graduate Cari Tretina, of Glen Allen. The coronation came at halftime of the Colonels’ 45-14 win over Austin Peay State University on Oct. 13. Tretina, sponsored by Order of Omega, is the daughter of Marilee and Paul Tretina. She is a senior political science and public relations major at EKU. |

Fan Care offers heat relief to seniors

Qualifying senior citizens can receive free relief from summer heat through the 23rd annual Fan Care program, which provides fans and cooling assistance to seniors 60 and older in need.
The program is an initiative of Senior Connections, The Capital Area Agency on Aging for seniors who meet income eligibility requirements and have a situation that threatens their health. > Read more.
