Kenzie Ferguson, of Glen Allen, is among the 114 Marymount University undergraduate students who have been selected as national outstanding campus leaders and are included in the 2013 edition of “Who's Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges.” Students are selected based on their academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success. Ferguson is majoring in fashion merchandising.

Sophomore John Harrison Vance, of Henrico, recently was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must maintain a 3.5 or higher grade point average.

Marine Corps Pfc. Justin T. Beck, son of Andrea R. and Douglas M. Beck, of Sandston, has earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. Beck spent 13 weeks training on subjects including close-order drill, marksmanship with an M-16A4 rifle, physical fitness, martial arts, swimming, military history, customs and courtesies. One week prior to graduation, he endured The Crucible, a 54-hour final test of recruits' minds and bodies. Upon completion, recruits are presented the Marine Corps emblem and called Marines for the first time. Beck is a 2009 graduate of Varina High School.

James Jewell, of Henrico, recently was named to the dean's list for the fall 2012 semester at Jacksonville State University in Alabama. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.99.

Alexander N. Beck, of Glen Allen, recently was named to the president’s list for the fall 2012 semester at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. To be eligible for the president’s list, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average. Beck is majoring in history.

Haley C. Chapel, of Glen Allen, recently was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. To be eligible for the dean’s list, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 GPA. Chapel is majoring in theatre arts.

Timothy West, of Glen Allen, recently was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester at the University of Delaware in Newark, Del. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.3 or higher.

Chelsea Tyler, of Henrico, is a member of the 2012-13 Randolph College women’s basketball team. Tyler, a 5'5 sophomore guard, has played 12 games this season. She leads the team with 26 steals, averages 6.1 points, and is shooting 34.6 percent outside of the arc. The WildCats are currently 3-9 overall, and 1-4 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
