13-year-old Wilder MS student charged with possession of gun at school

UPDATE: JAN. 14, 10:45 A.M. – A 13-year-old male student has been charged with possession of a firearm on school property, a class 6 felony, after being taken into police custody yesterday at the school. Charges were placed yesterday afternoon, Henrico Police said, and the juvenile was placed into Juvenile Detention yesterday. A court date is set for later this month.

A police investigation into how the student obtained the weapon continues.

Hearts of lions

Sandra Small started the first LEO Club in Henrico County at L. Douglas Wilder Middle School to get students involved in their communities.

The LEO Club Program is a youth version of the International Lions’ Club, an organization focused on helping communities through individual and collective contributions. LEO stands for “Learning, Experience, Opportunity.”
