Holman MS raises more than $4k for LLS

After a week of homeroom classes battling it out during “penny wars,” during a Pennies 4 Patients fundraiser, Holman Middle School’s Junior Beta Club raised more than $4,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Pennies counted positively toward a homeroom’s total. Silver coins and bills counted negatively. Students from other homerooms could cancel out the competition’s pennies by donating “negative” coins and bills.

Holman MS TSA wins technology award

Holman Middle School’s Technology Student Association (TSA) chapter recently won the Arvid W. Van Dyke Outstanding Middle School Award at “Technosphere 2013” – the third consecutive year that the group claimed the award. The honor is presented to the best middle and high school TSA chapters in Virginia and is earned by competing in individual and team competitions that explore topics such as digital photography, prepared speech, VEX robotics, medical technology and structural engineering.
