Henrico-based Free Agents Marketing has entered into a marketing partnership with Richmond-based Groome Transportation, a regional airport transportation provider connecting travelers to international airports in several Southeast markets. Free Agents will provide Groome with web development and interactive marketing, enhancing the company’s brand presence in multiple regions across the United States. Groome Transportation is the first national account for Free Agents Marketing. Universal Ford Sales, Inc., of Glen Allen, is one of 14 Virginia companies listed in “Black Enterprise” magazine’s 40th annual BE100s report. The comprehensive analysis includes a total of 230 companies broken down into seven categories; Universal Ford Sales is ranked No. 57 in the auto dealers category. The dealership had almost $23 million in revenue in 2011. “Black Enterprise,” a business, investing and wealth-building resource for African Americans, develops rankings by collecting surveys from companies and gathering information from various agencies and associations. The business must be at least 51% black-owned to be eligible.

Zaxby’s recently announced its multi-unit development agreement with Hoozax Foods, Inc. to open 32 Zaxby’s restaurants in the Norfolk and Richmond areas within the next seven years. The partnership will make Hoozax Foods, Inc. one of Zaxby’s largest franchisees. A southeast favorite for chicken fingers and buffalo wings, Zaxby’s features a quick-casual format providing services and amenities that fall somewhere between fast food and a sit-down restaurant. The chain operates more than 550 locations in 12 states; there are currently three locations in Virginia - Roanoke, Salem and Williamsburg. Of the 32, 15 restaurants are planned for Richmond.

Virginia Credit Union members are now able to deposit checks from virtually anywhere, at any time, using their smartphones. VACU mobile banking users deposit checks by taking a picture of the check using the camera on their iPhone or Android smartphone. Since launching mobile banking last summer, nearly 35,000 of VACU’s members have signed up. VACU also recently launched a new service for online banking members, Money Tracker. The free personal financial management tool helps members manage and track income, expenses and spending. Members may also create a savings goal and monitor their progress toward achieving their goal month by month.
