O’Reilly Auto Parts has opened a new location in Eastern Henrico at 2906 Williamsburg Rd. The store will be celebrating a grand opening that will run from September 14-27. On Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday, Sept. 24, Store Manager Jake Jackson will present a $200 check to the Henrico Volunteer Rescue Squad. O’Reilly Automotive, Inc. is one of the largest specialty retailers of automotive aftermarket parts, tools, supplies, equipment and accessories in the United States, serving both the do-it-yourself and professional markets. Founded in 1957 by the O’Reilly family, the company operates over 4,500 stores in 42 states.

New Hospital Safety Scores, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide and provide the most complete picture of patient safety in the United States health care system, were announced recently by The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog. Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center, Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center and Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital were among 798 hospitals to receive an A, ranking them among the safest hospitals in the country. Developed under the guidance of Leapfrog’s Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety Score uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A-F grades to more than 2,500 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. For the first time, the Hospital Safety Score includes five measures of patient-reported experience with the hospital as well as two of the most common infections, C.diff and MRSA.

David Posner, president of Royal Productions, has announced the sale of three Richmond-area home shows – the Richmond Home Show (October 8-9, RIR Complex), the Virginia Home Show (January 28-29, 2017, Meadow Event Park), and the Richmond Home & Garden Show (March 3-5, 2017, RIR Complex) – to Marketplace Events, LLC effective immediately. Royal Productions has purchased the Virginia Outdoor Sportsman Show which was held recently at the Richmond Raceway Complex and also produces the Greater Philadelphia Boat Show.

Insurance producers reveal their top carrier choices and Glen Allen based Markel Insurance has been given a five-star rating for its excellent service. Insurance Business America surveyed hundreds of producers last month to determine which aspects of carrier performance are most important to them. These ranged from competitive rates to technology and automation capabilities, claims processing efficiency, and more. The producers were then asked to rate their primary carrier’s performance across 10 criteria. Out of the hundreds of responses, only 18 carriers scored a 5 or higher rating in at least one category. These companies were awarded five-star ratings and featured in the latest issue of Insurance Business America. Of the 18 carriers that made this year’s list, Markel Insurance received five-star marks in five out of the 10 categories, specifically: Carrier reputation and financial stability; competitive rates; underwriting expertise; technology and automation capabilities; and range of products.

Hair Cuttery will be donating back-to-school haircuts to children who need it most this summer. From Aug. 1-15, for every child up to age 18 who purchases a haircut at one of Hair Cuttery’s nearly 900 salons, the chain will donate one free haircut certificate to a disadvantaged child in the community.
