The 24th annual Saxon Shoes for the Needy collection to benefit The Salvation Army brought in 5,768 pairs of shoes. The shoes collected at Saxon in Richmond at Short Pump Town Center and in Fredericksburg at The Village at Spotsylvania Towne Centre were presented to The Salvation Army Adult Rehab Center in Richmond and The Salvation Army in Fredericksburg.

Kaléo, a privately-held pharmaceutical company, recently announced that Henrico-based McShin Foundation has been awarded the 2016 Kaléo Cares Award for outstanding achievement in serving patients in need. The McShin Foundation, founded in 2004, is a nonprofit full-service Recovery Community Organization, committed to serving individuals and families in their fight against substance abuse disorders. McShin offers peer-to-peer intervention and recovery services, residential recovery support and a new program for high school students. The organization responds to more than 200,000 recovery support requests each year. This is the second year of the award.

Pet Valu, a specialty retailer of premium pet foods and accessories with two locations in Henrico County, finished its fifth annual Thanks for Giving pet products drive having raised a total of $178,165 for local animal shelters, over $40,000 more than what was raised in 2015. The November fundraiser ran all month long throughout Pet Valu’s 300-plus stores nationwide. As each store partners with at least one local animal group, all customer contributions directly supported the animals in their community that do not have homes. Pet Valu will continue to collect donations through the remainder of the holiday season and all year long there are always opportunities to make contributions and adopt through the stores.

Office Pride, a commercial cleaning service, recently honored Sheri and Roger Marshall with Standards of Excellence and Customer Satisfaction awards. The Marshalls own an Office Pride location at 11 W. Williamsburg Rd. These recognitions are based on sales growth, customer retention and satisfaction, as well as corporate compliance and continuing education. Sheri Marshall has partnered with The Choice Group and most recently Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center where she’s a listed employer that accepts and accommodates individuals living with disabilities. She helps to place these people into positions where they will be most successful and supported within her Office Pride of Richmond.

Long & Foster Real Estate has announced that its Innsbrook sales office will support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in its Toys for Tots campaign this year. The office launched its toy drive for Toys for Tots earlier this month and will collect toys through December 9. Toys may be dropped off at the Innsbrook sales office, located at 11225 Nuckols Road in Glen Allen, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. This year marks the company’s 26th year participating in the holiday collection campaign.

The 9Round of Henrico gym will open Saturday, Nov. 19, at The Shops at Wellesley, 3442 Lauderdale Dr. The location, owned by Heather Coe, offers shorter fitness workouts focused on kickboxing techniques. Developed by reigning IKF Light Middleweight Kickboxing Champion of the World, Shannon “The Cannon” Hudson, 9Round workouts consist of nine, three-minute stations of activities that include cardio, weight training, abdominal exercises and kicks and punches on 100-pound, double-end, upper cut and speed bags. A real boxing bell rings to begin the workout, another to warn the station is ending and a third to signal the end. Members have a 30-second active break between rounds to recover. There are no class times, and trainers are always on site lead the workouts. The routines change daily to give members a fresh workout every time they go to the gym. 9Round of Henrico is open Monday through Saturday.

ChamberRVA has announced the winners of the 2016 IMPACT Awards which honor local businesses that are making an impact on the local economy, the community and their employees: Small Business Category – Workshop Digital; and Large Business Category – Keiter. Other finalists for this award included Piascik, TrueTimber Arborists, Inc., Dominion Packaging and Dominion Payroll Services. The Innovation Award, part of the Chamber’s i.e.* initiative, was awarded to Nutriati, Inc. Other finalists for this award included Iggbo, MAXX Potential and Tenant Turner. All winners were recognized at the 29th Annual IMPACT Awards Celebration Dinner, held at the Richmond Marriott Nov. 3.

ComedySportz will present their hilarious, fast-paced and clean comedy at 8 p.m. Jan. 6 and at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at the ComedySportz Improv Theatre, located at 8906-H West Broad St. ComedySportz Richmond pits two teams, the Richmond Legends and the Virginia Hams, against each other in an improv battle for laughs and points as they make up scenes, games and songs on the spot based off audience suggestions.
