Hundreds of people visited Short Pump Town Center Nov. 18 to celebrate Santa’s arrival with a parade and magical tree lighting, which were followed by performances by the Salvation Army Band and Susan Greenbaum.

Short Pump Town Center and the Promenade Temecula in southern California (both Forest City Enterprises properties) began tracking the cell phone signals of shoppers on Black Friday in an attempt to cull information about their habits. Though the tracking was done anonymously, it raised concerns among some shoppers and other observers who felt it still was a violation of privacy. |

Short Pump Town Center’s Summer Concert Series will begin June 2 with a performance by 80z Enuff from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the main plaza. Families are invited, and the concert is free. The concert series will continue every Thursday until Aug. 25.

Stratford University hosted a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony April 6 at its new Richmond campus, located on W. Broad Street in Short Pump. Nearly 150 guests from legislative offices and local businesses gathered with Stratford officials for the occasion, including Patrice Lewis, outreach representative for the Office of Senator Mark R. Warner, and Tim Grimes with the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

Eastbound I-64 closures delayed to Wednesday

Lane closures on a section of eastbound Interstate 64 previously scheduled to begin Monday night have been delayed to Wednesday, April 27. The closures, which are needed to allow the installation of steel girders for bridge construction related to the North Gayton Road Extension Project, also are scheduled for Thursday, April 28.

Short Pump movie theater seeks extended hours

The Regal Short Pump Stadium 14 movie theater in Short Pump is seeking county approval to extend its hours of operation to allow for midnight showing of first-run movies. The Henrico Board of Supervisors is scheduled to hear the theater's request for a provisional use permit at its April 12 meeting.
