Program helps deserving children celebrate Mother’s Day

A group of children, staff members and volunteers from the Henrico Police Athletic League (PAL) will visit dressbarn at The Shops at Willow Lawn today to shop for a special Mother’s Day gift. dressbarn’s “To Mom, With Love” program helps deserving children across the country purchase a new dress, skirt or pair of shoes for their mother. Each child will receive a $50 gift card.
“This Mother’s Day, we’re working to make it possible for kids who otherwise may not be able to afford a gift, to recognize the hard work, sacrifice and unique contributions that every mom makes to a home,” said Vivian Behrens, senior vice president, chief marketing officer at dressbarn. “It’s a great program that helps honor someone who too often goes overlooked.”

The Virginia Tech Alumni Association - Richmond Chapter will host its fourth annual career fair on Monday, March 12 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Virginia Tech Richmond Center, 2810 N. Parham Road, on the third floor.
More than 20 companies will be recruiting for professional employment opportunities in and around the Richmond area. The career fair is free and open to the public. |

Amtrak exhibit train coming to Staples Mill Road station March 3-4

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Amtrak, America's Railroad® is offering the public an opportunity to view an Exhibit Train, a unique traveling display showcasing the railroad's history. The exhibit will make only one stop in Virginia, March 3-4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Amtrak’s Staples Mill Road Station.
Memorabilia, such as vintage advertising, past menus and dinnerware and period uniforms will be on display. Children can also visit Chuggington Depot, based on the popular children’s animated television series on Disney Junior, for train-themed kids’ activities. |
