Wyndham team helps ‘dunk’ hunger

The Wyndham Tidal Waves swim team won the inaugural “Dunk Hunger” food-and-funds drive for the Central Virginia Food Bank, donating the equivalent of 1,628 meals during the drive in June and July. In total, the drive netted more than 2,500 pounds of food and $3,020 in cash and sponsor donations – the equivalent of 17,634 meals.

The Canterbury Recreation Association/Swim Team contributed 1,623 meal equivalents to finish second in the competition. The Hungary Creek Recreation Association, Church Run Rocketts, Glen Allen Pool, Weinstein JCC Dolphins and Beulah Swim Team also participated. The competition was sponsored by the Virginia Swim Shop and Richmond Family Magazine.

Popular Short Pump spot offers upscale comfort, flavors
The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines.
