Special Olympics truck convoy will delay traffic Sept. 17
The 2011 'World's Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics' will pass through Metro Richmond and Henrico County Saturday, Sept. 17 and cause temporary traffic delays. The Virginia State Police will participate in the event, a one-day celebration in which law enforcement officials will escort a convoy of trucks through cities and towns in 38 states and Canada. The event will raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes. The local event will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. at Meadow Event Park, the home of the Virginia State Fair, in Doswell. Motorists should expect delays from the Meadow Event Park along Interstate 95 southbound between Doswell and Exit 84B in Henrico County and along Interstate 295 northbound to Interstate 64 eastbound to Bryan Park and Interstate 95 northbound, ending at the Meadow Event Park.
