Wawa Makes Donation to Henrico PAL

Pennsylvania-based convenience store retailer Wawa Inc. celebrated the Sept. 30 grand opening of its new Innsbrook store, the 20th in the Richmond area, with donations to the Henrico Police Athletic League (pictured) and to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The event featured a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and a “Hoagies for Heroes” contest pitting two teams of police officers and PAL staff members and board members against each other in a race to see who could build the most hoagies in three minutes. Both teams designated their winnings (a total of $1,500) to Henrico PAL. Wawa also donated $72,000 to JDRF, raised with the help of sneaker sales at area stores.
