VDOT public information meeting on Springfield Road planned for Dec. 13
|
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public information meeting Tuesday, Dec. 13 to gather the community’s input regarding the two mile stretch of Springfield Road (Route 157) between Nuckols Road and Staples Mill Road in Henrico County prior to beginning an improvement study. This study will determine whether cost-effective improvements can be made to the existing road to improve safety and reduce congestion or if a new, alternate roadway should be constructed.
The meeting will be held in an open house format at Glen Allen High School located at 10700 Staples Mill Road in Glen Allen from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This flexible format allows participants to arrive when their schedule permits. No formal presentation will be given. Individuals are encouraged to submit their comments about Springfield Road in person, online, by email or by standard mail. Comments must be received by Dec. 23 to be included in the public meeting transcript. In person – Attend the public meeting December 13 and give your written or oral comments at the meeting. Online – Fill out the comment form on the project website at http://www.virginiadot.org/projects/richmond/springfield_road_study.asp Email – Email comments to the project manager at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Standard mail – Fill out the comment form and mail it to VDOT, ATTN: Alex Owsiak, 2430 Pine Forest Drive, Colonial Heights, VA 23834-9002. Following the comment period, the engineering consultant firm performing the study will compile the comments received and use the information to determine what safety and congestion improvements the community feels are needed along the Springfield Road corridor. The study is anticipated to be completed in fall 2012. VDOT will hold additional public meetings regarding any costs or community impacts for this project once a preliminary roadway design is developed. |
