VDOT 6-year program input sought

Virginia Secretary of Transportation Sean T. Connaughton and local members of the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) will host a meeting in Richmond Nov. 30 for the public to provide input on the development of the Six-Year Improvement Program for fiscal years 2013-2018. The program includes multimodal highway, rail and public transportation initiatives.
The meeting will be held at the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) central office auditorium, 1221 E. Broad Street in Richmond, beginning at 6 p.m. From 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. the public can visit displays and meet representatives from the Virginia departments of Transportation, Rail and Public Transportation, Aviation, Motor Vehicles and Port Authority. Following the open house session, individuals can speak for up to three minutes or submit written comments. Speakers may register at the door; there is no pre-registration. A draft Six-Year Improvement Program will be available next spring, and public hearings will be held before the program is finalized in June 2012. Comments can be submitted following this meeting or by those not able to attend the meeting. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare

Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
