Valentine Richmond History Center to offer free viewing of Henrico exhibit Sunday
|
Area residents can take a free tour of a photo exhibit depicting Henrico history when the Valentine Richmond History Center hosts “Henrico County Day” from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20 at the center, 1015 E. Clay Street.
The Valentine Richmond History Center is offering free admission and light refreshments in honor of Henrico’s 400th anniversary. The event is open to the public. “Into Focus: Henrico County through the Camera” features photos tracing cultural and architectural changes in the county from the 19th century to present. The exhibit chronicles Henrico’s five magisterial districts and provides images of the county’s historic sites as well as scenes of everyday life, such as schools, bridges, private homes and shopping centers. The exhibit includes photos from the collections of both the history center and the county. The event also will feature a 2 p.m. gallery talk by exhibit curators Kim Sicola of Henrico’s Division of Recreation and Parks and Meg Hughes of Valentine Richmond History Center. For more information about Henrico County Day, contact the Valentine Richmond History Center at (804) 649-0711, ext. 301 or visit http://www.richmondhistorycenter.com.
