Valentine Richmond History Center to offer free viewing of Henrico exhibit Sunday

Area residents can take a free tour of a photo exhibit depicting Henrico history when the Valentine Richmond History Center hosts “Henrico County Day” from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20 at the center, 1015 E. Clay Street.
The Valentine Richmond History Center is offering free admission and light refreshments in honor of Henrico’s 400th anniversary. The event is open to the public. “Into Focus: Henrico County through the Camera” features photos tracing cultural and architectural changes in the county from the 19th century to present. The exhibit chronicles Henrico’s five magisterial districts and provides images of the county’s historic sites as well as scenes of everyday life, such as schools, bridges, private homes and shopping centers. The exhibit includes photos from the collections of both the history center and the county. The event also will feature a 2 p.m. gallery talk by exhibit curators Kim Sicola of Henrico’s Division of Recreation and Parks and Meg Hughes of Valentine Richmond History Center. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.

Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump
Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare

Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.
Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.
