UR completes $14 million in construction, renovations

The University of Richmond has completed more than $14 million in summer renovations and construction, including $2.5 million in library improvements, a new Student Activities Complex and a café at UR Downtown.

Reflecting increasing study and work on portable computers and other mobile devices, numerous power outlets and additional table surface space have been added throughout Boatwright Memorial Library. Added library work areas include seven group and eight individual study rooms. Renovations also have enabled all collaborative study areas to be moved to the second floor, allowing designation of the first floor for quiet study.

Construction of a new $5 million Student Activities Complex has been completed, providing a Student Center and a court of eight cottages designated for sorority use. Three blocks of the on-campus University Forest Apartments have been updated with new roofing, flooring, an additional half bath, and new bedroom furniture and kitchen appliances.

Artificial turf and upgraded lighting are being installed on the campus Intramural Fields to accommodate their heavy use and extend playing hours. In the Robins Center, football offices and meeting rooms have been renovated.

Ryland Hall and North Court, two of the oldest buildings on campus, both received interim improvements while their complete renovation is planned.
