Tuckahoe town meeting Oct. 10 to examine utilities’ response to Irene

The next town meeting of Tuckahoe District Supervisor Patricia S. O’Bannon will examine the effect of Hurricane Irene on local utilities and their response in the aftermath of the storm. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 at Tuckahoe Area Library, 1901 Starling Drive.

Representatives from Dominion Virginia Power, Comcast and Verizon will discuss the impact of the storm and their companies’ efforts to restore electricity, phone and cable services. Officials from the State Corporation Commission and Henrico General Services Director Chris Winstead also will be on hand. The officials will join O’Bannon for a question-and-answer period.

Reynolds CC to host sculptor Paul DiPasquale


Reynolds Community College will host Richmond sculptor Paul DiPasquale Sept. 28 as he shares his presentation “Art Talk, Why Art Matters” from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Conference Center Gallery of the Workforce Development and Conference Center on the Parham Road Campus, located at 1651 E. Free children’s clothing for those in need

The Children's Clothing Closet at Highland Springs United Methodist Church will be open Saturday, Aug. 27 and Tuesday, Aug. 30 to provide free new or nearly new children's clothing for families in need, prior to the start of the school year.
