The grandstand was the result of a multi-million dollar expansion project, designed to create more fan-friendly seating within the raceway arena. The construction began in 2006 and was completed in May 2007, adding 7,843 seats and increasing the raceway’s capacity to 112,029. This monumental structure measures in at an impressive height of 182 feet – four feet taller than the air traffic control tower at the Richmond International Airport. The grandstand’s three tiers are composed of the Commonwealth Mezzanine, the Club Level and the Commonwealth Tower, along with some of the best seats the track has to offer. The most prestigious of the three sections, the Club Level, featuring the Torque Club, has a capacity of 700 and is reserved for members only. The club also is used year-round to house special events on non-race weekends. |
