Taylor named national police explorer finalist

Explorer Captain Jordan Taylor of the Henrico Police Division’s Explorer Post 608 is one of three finalists for the National Youth Representative for Law Enforcement Exploring. Taylor was selected as a finalist from entries made from Police Explorers across the United States.

Taylor has been an explorer with Henrico Police since 2007 and is currently serving as the post president. He will graduate from Hermitage High School in June and plans to attend Randolph Macon University this fall majoring in international studies with a minor in political science. Jordan has received numerous awards including Explorer of the Year in 2009 and he was one of four named Henrico County Outstanding Youth in January 2012. In addition, he is the treasurer of the National Honor Society and president of the BETA Club at Hermitage.

If Taylor is selected as the National Youth Representative, he will represent over 33,000 explorers and 8,245 adult volunteers throughout the United States. He will be expected to provide input and assistance as needed to the National Committee with regard to Law Enforcement Exploring programs, policies and resource materials. Additionally, he would represent Law Enforcement Exploring at meetings, functions, activities and other events.

The National Youth Representative travels throughout the U.S. and meets with Explorer Posts and other individuals to spread information about Law Enforcement Exploring and try to boost membership nationally.

Taylor will attend the National Law Enforcement Exploring Conference in Fort Collins, Co. in July where the representative will be named.
