The Central Virginia UASI will host its third annual Survivor Day on Saturday, Feb. 23 at various locations throughout the region, including one in Henrico County. The event is designed as a preparedness training program to teach residents how to live safely through natural disasters and other emergencies, such as hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, blizzards and more.

Emergency and Community Response professionals will teach citizens the best ways to prepare for those life threatening situations so they know how to survive in their home without power for at least 72 hours, and they’ll find out what to take with them should they need to leave in a hurry.

The Henrico event will take place at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, with check-in beginning at 8 a.m. The program will conclude by noon. All pre-registered attendees who complete the 4 hour training will receive free survivor kit supplies and a backpack (limit one per household). Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
