As we move towards the middle of our second marking period, Holman has many exciting events going on. The sports season continues with wrestling, boys’ basketball, and gymnastics. Our winter sports have been doing very well this marking period; basketball won its last game against Brookland recently, its fourth win this season. The wrestling team has also been working hard, winning its match recently as well.

The new Virginia Readers Choice books are on our library shelves, and the choices are All the Broken Pieces, by Ann E. Burg, BULU – African Wonder Dog, by Dick Houston, Camo Girl, by Kekla Magoon, and many more. At the awards ceremony in June, the students who have read four of the ten books will receive a medal and an outdoor picnic.

To remember the tragedy in Newtown, Ct. at Sandy Hook Elementary School, many classes have made snowflakes with words of encouragement for the students and families affected by his tragedy. The Connecticut PTA had invited students across the nation to make a snowflake to decorate the school, so when students return to school they have a winter wonderland. It is a simple act that can make a big difference.

We are so lucky at our school to have many opportunities to make friends and have fun, for we are all Huskies, working together.
