Route 5 Corridor Study meeting planned May 31

The public will have an opportunity to learn about potential transportation solutions for the Route 5 corridor in Eastern Henrico and the City of Richmond during a public meeting May 31 in Richmond.

A number of regional and state entities have been studying the corridor between Laburnum Avenue and 7th Street downtown for months and will present conceptual alternatives during next week's open house, which will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at VDOT's Central Office Auditorium, 1221 E. Broad Street in Richmond.

The study is part of a joint effort between VDOT, the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission, the City of Richmond, Henrico County, the GRTC Transit System and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation. It has included consideration of multimodal transportation improvements to benefit transit, commuters, bicyclcists and pedestrians.

Attendees will be able to provide input and feedback to officials at the meeting. Those who cannot attend but want to provide input can do so by June 21 by visiting http://www.route5corridor.com or mailing their comments to Lee Yolton, Principal Planner, RRPDC, 9211 Forest Hill Avenue, Suite 200, Richmond VA 23235.
