John Rolfe Middle School will hold a children’s book drive in partnership with The Children’s Museum of Richmond Book Bank from Nov. 12-21. All books should be new or gently used and should be appropriate for ages 0-13. All staff, students, parents and community members are invited to donate books, which can be dropped off at the school (located at 6901 Messer Road in Varina) during school hours (8:35 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.).
Collection bins will be placed in the crosswalk areas of each grade level and in the front office. The Book Bank does not accept encyclopedias, school textbooks, books for adult readers, magazines, VHS tapes/DVDs/CDs or toys. Books may not be musty, damaged or written-in. |

Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.
