RIR kicks off annual food bank and Toys For Tots drive
|
Richmond International Raceway staff will again assist the Central Virginia Food Bank and the Marine Toys for Tots programs now through Dec. 16 by donating food items and toys during the upcoming holiday season. RIR track president Dennis Bickmeier has also pledged to match can-for-can and toy-for-toy the donations received at the track.
Donations can be made to both organizations at the RIR ticket office, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For five food items or one new, unwrapped toy dropped off at RIR, each donor will be entered to win two tickets to the April 28, 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway. Food items most needed are canned meats and fish, peanut butter, canned vegetables and fruits, canned spaghetti sauce, hot and cold cereals, pasta and rice. New this year, RIR staff will attempt to fill a Richmond International Raceway pace car with food. Each week day, the pace car will be on display at the corner of Laburnum Avenue and Richmond-Henrico Turnpike. For more information, visit http://www.rir.com . |
