RIR, Foodbank, Toys for Tots partner on food, toy drive

For the eighth consecutive year, Richmond International Raceway is partnering with the Central Virginia Foodbank and the Marine Toys for Tots program to collect food and toys through Dec. 14.

Donations can be made to both organizations at the Richmond International Raceway ticket office, located at the corner of Laburnum Avenue and Richmond-Henrico Turnpike (Meadowbridge Road). The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Food items most needed are canned meats and fish, canned and dried beans, canned vegetables and fruits, hot and cold cereals and pasta and rice.

“The Central Virginia Foodbank and Marine Toys for Tots are two very special programs for us here at Richmond International Raceway,” said track president Dennis Bickmeier. “We recognize the need for our community throughout the year, but especially during the holiday season. I encourage everyone to make a difference this holiday season and donate to these worthwhile programs. Additionally, I pledge that Richmond International Raceway will match can-for-can and toy-for-toy the donations we receive here at the track.”

Tickets for the April 26-27 NASCAR weekend at Richmond International Raceway go on sale Dec. 7. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series tickets, including seats in Turns 1 & 4, start at $45 in advance.
