Registration opens for Valor Awards

Jennifer Smith Love The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at the Greater Richmond Convention Center downtown. Each year, a number of these public safety personnel are honored for their extraordinary efforts during the past year. First responders from Richmond, Ashland and the counties of Hanover, Henrico and Chesterfield will be present to salute their peers. The special keynote speaker for the event will be Jennifer Smith Love, the assistant director of the Security Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. Love most recently served as acting assistant director of the FBI’s Inspection Division, where she oversaw the the Inspection Strategic Analysis Section, Internal Investigations Section, and External Audit Section. She has served in a variety of departments throughout the country and has investigated white-collar crime, violent crime, computer intrusions and civil rights matters. Corporate table sponsorship for the event table includes a sign and 10 seats for $425. Individual seats are $40 apiece. Henrico Junior 4-H camp registration open

For parents looking to keep their kids outside and away from the video games this summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension is still accepting registrations for the 2013 Henrico Junior 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held June 17-23, and is open to boys and girls ages 9-13. A total of 10 spaces for boys and 27 spaces for girls remain available, and registration is open until May 24. The cost is $230, which includes lodging, meals, programs, instructional materials and charter bus transportation. > Read more.
