Henrico's first annual Punkin’ Dunkin’, postponed from its original pre-Halloween date due to rain, drew dozens of spectators to Lake Innsbrook Nov. 9 to cheer on pumpkin launchers of all ages.
Part of Innsbrook's Great Pumpkin Palooza benefiting The Faison School, the event featured a large trebuchet (dubbed “Harvest and Assault”) built by the trebuchet team of H&A Architects and Engineers, as well as a catapult-like device constructed by Highwoods Properties.
Both devices drew competitors (including Dean Squires and Brian Menditto of Highwoods Properties, above eager to test their skill at launching the pumpkins as far as possible into the lake.
Organizers plan to make the Punkin' Dunkin’ an annual part of the Great Pumpkin Palooza, which raised money for The Faison School.
