Public Safety Games raise money

The First Annual Henrico Public Safety Games, a fundraiser for the Henrico Christmas Mother, were held Dec. 7 at the Hermitage H.S. track and the Henrico County Training Center. Sponsored by Henrico County Fitness and Wellness, the games featured pairs of police officers, firefighters and sheriff’s deputies competing against one another in a series of events (2-mile run, bench press, pull-up/push-up/squat circuit, and agility course challenge) to test strength, speed and endurance.

The winning team of firefighters Patrick Sheehan and Justin Borel narrowly defeated Officers Mark Brennan and Josh Dixon from the Division of Police by one point. The competition was close all the way around, with police teams as a group winning by just two points over those from Henrico Fire. Christmas Mother Terry Brady was on hand to cheer on the teams and present “official” Henrico Christmas Mother hats to the winners, as the inaugural event raised several hundred dollars for the Christmas Mother.
