Police seek help closing 20-year-old cold case murder
|
On the 20th anniversary of the death of Marshall Ray Butler, the Henrico Division of Police is seeking assistance from the public in solving this open homicide.
On Aug. 22, 1991, Marshall Ray Butler was found beaten and stabbed inside his white 1979 Ford pick-up truck located on I-64 West Exit ramp to Route 360. Butler's vehicle had also been set on fire by his assailants. While initially there were persons of interest in this case, it still remains an open case. Henrico Police have identified new physical evidence from the scene that has provided new information but officials still are seeking the public's assistance in bringing the case to a resolution. In addition to the physical evidence, Henrico Police are confident that new advances in forensic testing will provide additional information to solve this case. Anyone with information should contact Investigator J. M. Berger at (804) 501-5240, Henrico Police at (804) 501-5000, or Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000. |
