Police officer shoots knife-wielding man
|
A Henrico Police officer shot and wounded a knife-wielding man in the 7800 block of Wistar Village Drive, near Staples Mill Road, earlier this morning. Just before 10 a.m., a woman called police to report a domestic disturbance at the site, telling a dispatcher that her husband was in the driveway of the residence holding a knife and yelling.
The first officers arrived on the scene approximately three minutes after the initial call and found the man standing in a neighbor's driveway wielding a knife. Officers immediately ordered him to drop the knife, and when he refused, one officer fired one shot, striking the subject in the lower torso. Once the scene stabilized, the subject was transported to the VCU Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition. The officer has been placed in an administrative assignment status while the investigation continues. |
