Police arrest man who threatened to blow up train
Incident happened at Staples Mill Road Amtrak station
Henrico County Police yesterday arrested a man at the Staples Mill Road Amtrak station who had threatened to blow up a train on which he was a passenger.
Paul Warfield, 45, of Winchester, West Va., was arrested shortly before 10 p.m. after the train arrived at the station. Several other passengers on the train had alerted the conductor that Warfield was becoming increasingly agitated and that he had threatened to blow the train up. After the train arrived, police ordered Warfield to put down the backpack he was carrying and took him into custody.
He was charged with disorderly conduct and making a bomb threat.
The train was evacuated, and the Henrico Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team along with members of the FBI and ATF responded to clear the train, the station and luggage. Nothing suspicious was located.
