Rev. Tyrone Nelson, the pastor of the Sixth Mount Zion Church in Richmond, became the third entrant in the race for the Varina seat on the Henrico Board of Supervisors, announcing his candidacy one day before the filing deadline.

Nelson and retired Henrico Police official Reese Haller will seek the seat held by incumbent Republican Jim Donati. Haller unsuccessfully sought the seat four years ago, while Nelson lost in a three-way race for the Varina seat on the School Board the same year.
